Miscarriage
Sometimes a pregnancy ends in a different way than you had hoped or expected. 20 percent of all pregnant women experience bleeding in the first 16 weeks of pregnancy. Eventually, 10 percent of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. In the remaining 10 percent of women who loss blood during pregnancy, the bleeding is innocent.
The greater the age of the mother, the greater the risk of a miscarriage. Signs of miscarriage are bleeding and abdominal pain. These symptoms can intensify during miscarriage and decrease again after the embryo has been disposed. Intense abdominal pain and excessive blood loss are always a good reason to call the emergency line. If you have only a little blood in your underwear, you can call us during office hours.
A miscarriage is a natural, but dramatic event. Sadness and disappointment are a natural and logical response. Obviously, we will be there for you during this difficult period.
